Appeal for family history
Sir,
I am researching my mother-in-law’s family history, about which we know very little. I am hoping that your readers may be able to help.
My mother-in-law, Dorothy Violet Joyce (always known as Violet) was born on 12/04/1921 at 44 Burr Lane, Ilkeston. She died on 30/06/2001.
Her parents were Reginald James Kerry, 1898-Oct 1949 and Eliza Ellen Joyce, 06/01/1901-22/07/1923. They were married on 28/10/1922.
When my wife’s grandmother, Eliza Ellen died in 1923 Violet was cared for by her grandmother, Clara Joyce for a short while, then Violet was given away to an unrelated family Mrs Evelyn Carr and husband of possibly Green Lane, Ilkeston, with whom she lived until she married my father-in-law and moved to Manchester.
I have been able to contact a branch of the Joyce family in Walsall.
