AN ILKESTON couple have opened up two new shops on Bath Street as a joint business venture.

Ian and Shirley Stevenson decided they wanted a change so took on an empty two unit shop on Bath Street and opened up Emporium and Sweet Yesterdays.

Shirley said: “Emporium sells funky retro and vintage gifts at affordable prices.”

Ian’s shop, Sweet Yesterdays, sells old fashioned sweets and he hopes to add an ice cream parlour later in the year.

He said: “It’s the first time either of us have owned a shop and we wanted to set up in Ilkeston because I’m born and bred. We’ve set up as two businesses but the set up of this shop was perfect for us.”
