Firm links with India

AN ILKESTON engineering firm has announced it is opening an Indian subsidiary, expected to start trading next month.

Damper Technology on the Manners Industrial Estate is opening offices in Coimbatore, southern India, recruiting from the local area.

The number of staff in Ilkeston – currently 20 – is set to increase after the deal.

A spokesman for the firm, which makes equipment to regulate the flow of air and gas for the energy industry, said the aim is to purchase or build its own manufacturing base there within a few years.
