Plan to build 53 homes on college site

COUNCILLORS will vote on a plan to build 53 homes on a former college site in Ilkeston next week.

Erewash Borough Council planners have recommeded they approve the plan for the Cavendish Road campus of South East Derbyshire College, which merged with site owners Derby College.

Planners have asked the college to provide an open space and play area and ensure 30 per cent of the houses are affordable.

Three letters of objection have been received.

An application to build 42 homes on the site was refused in 2010.
