This was the last photograph supplied to us by regular Memory Lane contributor Eddie King, who died last year.

It shows buses lined up on Ilkeston Market Place in the 1930s – long before it became pedestrianised, as it is today.

In his accompanying email with the photograph, Eddie said that the two buses on the left were waiting to go to Derby, while the one on the right would have been heading for Long Eaton.

He said: “Some officianados may be interested in the vehicles themselves, whilst others may have fond memories of the Market Place hosting the main stopping place, waiting place and terminus for their journey.”
