FORMER regulars at an Ilkeston pub will recognise this shot of an Awsworth Road boozer.

The black and white photograph of the Bridge Inn was taken in the 1980s and was submitted by former Ilkestonian Julie Crouch, who is now editor of the Advertiser’s sister paper the Ripley and Heanor News.

Julie said it was taken during ‘better times’ at the pub, now set to be bulldozed to make way for a 66-bed care home.

The once-popular canalside pub at one of the gateways to Ilkeston closed two years ago and has been victim of arson attacks.

Erewash Borough Council’s planning committee gave permission to Atlantic Midland Securities to build the care home development earlier this month.
