Blowing up a musical storm
Blowzabella
THE inimitable, driving sounds of Blowzabella can be seen in concert in the Darwin Suite at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Thursday, April 26.
Formed in 1978, Blowzabella is a band that has played everywhere from the main stage at Glastonbury to the outer reaches of Brazil and West Africa and innumerable places in between.
Blowzabella have produced a drone-based sound played with a fabulous sense of melody, rhythmic expertise and sheer feeling.
They compose their own music, influenced by British and European traditional dance music. Many bands across Europe who experiment with the boundaries of folk music cite Blowzabella as a major influence.
Tickets to see Blowzabella in action are £15, concessions £12, under 16s £2 with a paying adult. For more information and to book tickets call the box office on 01332 255800.
