THIS photograph was submitted by the late Eddie King, who provided the Advertiser with dozens of old pictures of Ilkeston and the surrounding area before his death last year.
It shows the former signal box at Stanton Gate and the signalman who presumably worked there.
In his email, Eddie said the picture was interesting for two reasons.
“The first being that the signalman is also shown, and secondly it looks like an old fashioned street-like gas lamp-post is also shown quite close to the signal box,” he explained.
“I don’t know when the photo was taken but I can only guess in he 1930s.”
