In a groundbreaking partnership, Churches Together In Belper and the Belper Short Play Festival are combining to bring a Passion Play to the streets of Belper on Good Friday, March 29.

Auditions for those wishing to take part - whether they are professional or amateur performers - are to be held at St Peter’s Church, Chesterfield Road, Belper, on Thursday, January 3, between 7pm-9.30pm.

The production is also looking for people to work behind the scenes in such roles as stage managers and stewards, so you are being encouraged to come along and have a go.

Producer George Gunby, said: “This is a substantial project and we want the people of Belper in particular and Derbyshire in general to be as big a part of it as possible.

“We’ve already had a considerable amount of interest from actors and we would like as many as possible to turn up on the evening of January 3 at St. Peter’s Church.”

George Gunby continued:“We have a substantial number roles, large and small, as well the need for people to work behind the scenes.”

The Belper Passion will be produced by The Belper Short Play Festival and will be directed by Larry Waller with technical direction to be courtesy of Louis Vella.
