Regular contributor to Memory Lane Eddie King, who boasts an extensive collection of pictures from Ilkeston's past, has supplied us with this photograph from nearly 100 years ago.
It shows what was then known as Ilkeston County Secondary School on its opening day in June 1914. On the day, King George V officially opened the school, which later became Ilkeston Grammar School, Ilkeston School and most recently Ilkeston Specialist Arts College.

Former pupil Eddie said: "Visitors can be seen looking down towards the main entrance from the roof in this view."

If you have any comments about this or any of Eddie's photgraphs, write to him at 24 Stanley Close, Ilkeston DE7 4NA or email eddieking@sky.com.
