More than 100 offences were dealt with by police checking vehicles passing along an Ilkeston street last week.
A total of 56 drivers were caught not wearing their seatbelts in Station Road on Wednesday (April 24) during Operation Safedrive, which police say aims to make driving safer in Ilkeston.
A further 22 drivers were spotted using their mobile phones.
A force spokesman said: “It was a very busy day and important that these types of checks are carried out.”
Four cars had illegal number plates and five had incorrect tyres.
Two vehicles were contravening the weight restrictions along the route and two were deemed not in proper control of their vehicles.
A drugs search was carried out on one vehicle and another driver was dealt with for the manner of their driving.
One driver had no insurance and another was stopped for MOT offences.
Other offences included having an insecure load and obstructing police.
