TROWELL Parish Council and the village’s festival committee has donated £500 – part of the proceeds from its annual Christmas fair – to Trowell CofE Primary School.

Susan Williams, chair of the committee, attended a special assembly at the Derbyshire Avenue school where she handed over a cheque to headteacher Sue Chalkley.

“We are planning to carry out a refurbishment project, which will benefit key stage one pupils and this generous monetary gift will certainly prove beneficial,” said Mrs Chalkley.

Festival chairman Susan Williams said: “It gives us so much pleasure to be able to support our local school which is one of the jewels in the village’s crown.”

n Trowell’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June will be specifically for the children of the village.
