A secret ballot to decide whether a gate on Shipley Lane, Mapperley is re-opened or remains shut has been held and will now be considered by the county council.
The results of the ballot - which was carried out by the parish council in June and organised by the Derbyshire Association of Local Councils - are: 61 people want the gate closed to all public; 79 want it re-opened with full public access; five have no preference and 47 want it to remain closed but with access for Mapperley residents only.

About 30 people did not take part in the ballot

The road was closed in October sparking a petition opposed to the closure.

Derbyshire County Council have also conducted their own consultation, the results of which will be made public later in the year.

They wrote letters to people in Mapperley inviting them to respond with their opinion of the road closure.
