A new path has been placed at the site of the Skateparc on Shipley View estate after a five-year wait.
County councillor Michelle Booth said: "When the young people were consulted by the Labour Administration over the design of the skateparc some eight years ago, they identified that the area was dark.

"To get lighting and lamps at the site there needed to be a pathway on which to place the lamps

"This was many years ago, in terms of young people. Those who asked for it will probably be at work or college now.

"However, I am really pleased that the Conservatives have finally taken heed of the Labour recommendations set all that time ago and realised that the path was the right step to take, if you pardon the pun.

County cllr Brian Lucas said: ''I am really glad for the young people too. They will now have easier access to the skateparc, instead of having to cross the pitch to get to the facility.'
