Less than two months after it opened, Trowell's £51,000 play area was forced to close because of damage.
The mesh on the climbing frame of the multi-play unit on Stapleford Road had been forced off at its fixings and, though it was taped up until properly repaired, that too was removed. And plastic safety covering on the slide was broken off.

Contractors repaired the damage after only two days but during that time, no-one could use the area. It is unknown whether the damage was deliberate or accidental.
