An Ilkeston store is appealing for support on Saturday April 5 to raise vital charity cash for the British Heart Foundation.
Staff at Midlands Co-op's Ilkeston Department store on the Market Place will be challenging themselves to a sponsored exercise bike ride lasting over eight hours, to help the nation's heart charity.

From 9am to 5.20pm, members of staff will cycle 20 minutes in exchange for small donations.

Store manager Dave Elliott said: "This challenge is our way to raise vital funds for our staff-elected charity for 2008/9 while raising awareness of heart disease.

"Exercising is essential to keep your heart healthy, with the help of our customers we could raise enough money to fund at least one defibrillator, which could save a life."

Every two minutes someone in the UK has a heart attack and there are more than 2.6 million people now living with heart disease – a long term and debilitating condition.
