A mother of three from Ilkeston is flying high this summer fulfilling a lifelong dream of piloting a microlight solo, for the first time.
Teresa Raffle, a lettings manager for Nottingham City Homes has made her dream come true thanks to winning a bursary courtesy of TENA, a company that helps women with bladder weakness.

Every year, TENA gives away a bursary of up to £5000 to women like Teresa, who have a burning ambition but not the resources to fund it.
Teresa has always had an adventurous streak.

At the age of ten she saved up her pocket money to go on a pleasure flight, saying: "I'd never been in a plane before but I was longing to go in one and see the ground from above. I've been smitten by the bug ever since!

"My husband bought me a few trial flights as a present a few years ago but I just assumed it would be an amazing one-off experience. I never thought I'd get this kind of opportunity."

Teresa's finally living her childhood dream and learning to fly a microlight at the Ram-Air flying school in Derbyshire.
She hopes to obtain her official microlight pilots license later this year.

"I love learning to fly. I can see Britain from a birds-eye view which gives you a great sense of freedom and exhilaration."

Now Teresa has set herself a further challenge- to fly around the coast of Britain with her flying school in order to raise money for the NSPCC.
