Police are investigating the death of a baby girl from Ilkeston.
Officers started the investigation on Sunday after the one-year-old from Station Road had been taken to hospital.
She died on Monday morning.
The investigation is continuing and police are awaiting the results of medical tests which will determine the cause of the girl's death.
A 34-year-old man was arrested, questioned by officers and has been released on police bail.
