A MAN who died in hospital hours after he was found with serious injuries on the side of a road in Ilkeston has been named by police.
Liam Patrick Adkins, 21, from Ilkeston, was found on the cobbles on the corner of Chalons Way where it meets Station Road.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham when he was found at 3.30am on Tuesday morning, but died a short time later. Blood was visible on Chalons Way next to where he was found. The road was closed off and one lane was re-opened at 8.40am. The road was taped off for forensics and police guarded the area throughout the morning.

Police would not say what his injuries were and said at this stage they are treating his death as "unexplained."

Liam's friends have paid tribute to him in a group set up on social networking site Facebook, labelling him a 'top legend' and 'a lovely person that has been taken from all of us.'

Officers are appealing for witnesses. Anybody with any information should call them on 0845 123 3333 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
