An Ilkeston children's home is celebrating an outstanding evaluation from Ofsted.
Inspectors visited Albany House, on Albany Street, last month and found it to be well managed and run by a dedicated, organised and caring team.
The staff was praised for their enthusiasm about the achievements and progress of the young people in
their care, while the young people were judged to be fully involved in their placements and plans for their future. They are positive about the support and care they receive and are encouraged to talk about the running of the home, they added.
The report highlighted an excellent rapport between the well trained staff and young people and the robust service that promotes the needs, safety and welfare of the young people.
Other areas praised were:
- The manager is highly respected by the staff and young people;
- Young people are encouraged to eat healthily and take part in exercise to keep them fit;
- The promotion of young people's health and medical needs is well organised;
- Young people are involved in the planning of meals.
The home will be moving to new premises next year.
Manager Angie Brown said: "We are delighted that this inspection reflects all the hard work and effort put in by the staff.
"We want to provide a safe, comfortable home that allows all our children to reach their full potential.
"We take on board and value all of the inspector's comments and we will make sure that we continue our good work in our new premises."
Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for children's services Anne Western said: "We pride ourselves in providing the best possible environment for the children we care for.
"This outstanding report is a tribute to the commitment of the staff and the young people they work with."
