Green-fingered students have taken delivery of a grant cheque to help brighten their Ilkeston school.
Derbyshire County Councillor for Ilkeston, Cllr Kath Trueman, last week presented the young Kensington Junior School gardeners with £500 from her Community Leadership Fund.

It will be used to create a walled garden containing shrubs and plants to brighten the playground throughout the year. Pupils will maintain it and make it attractive for their classmates and visitors.

Cllr Trueman said: "I serve on the governing body of the school where a great deal of building improvements have recently been made and I am happy to help out to further improve the environment in this way."
