Ilkeston firefighter Bryan Bennett has been rewarded for his long service and good conduct.
The east area manager was among the recipients to receive an award for 20 years of service from the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, John Bather.

The Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was created by Royal Warrant on June 1, 1954. The honour is only gained after 20 years of meritorious service to the fire and rescue service and the public.

Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive Brian Tregunna said: "This award evening is being held to recognise the many years of loyal public service given by our staff, but it is also an occasion when we can acknowledge the support that our employees receive from their families and partners."

Cllr Paul Smith, chair of the Fire Authority added: "It is right and proper that these occasions are held to enable us to thank those whose aim is to ensure the people of Derbyshire have a safer place to live work and visit."
