POLICE are hunting a gang of youths for their part in a racist attack in Kirk Hallam when a man was hit with an airgun pellet.
The incident happened at a bus stop on Ladywood Road at around 11.45am on Saturday when two or three young males shouted racist abuse at a couple who were waiting at the bus stop.

The man was hit on the end of the nose by what is believed to be a BB or pellet gun pellet. The youths, aged between 13 and 16, are described as having short hair with skinny builds.

Call PC 2914 Stevenson on 0845 123 3333 with information.

And on the Friday before, May 2, a man was shot twice in the leg as he and a friend walked home to Sandiacre via the canal towpath.

The pair were a quarter of the way out of Ilkeston at about 6.45pm when the shots were fired. One pellet pierced the victim's shin, though neither he nor his friend saw or heard anything.

If you have information about this incident, contact PC 2792 Robinson on the above number or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
