A-level results ‘best ever’

NERVOUS A-level students have been finding out their fate today at sixth-form colleges across the region.

So far, every sixth-form covered by this newspaper has received better results than last year with most saying it has been their best year ever.

The latest results are as follows:

- Ilkeston Sixth Form Partnership (Ilkeston Specialist Arts College and Kirk Hallam Community College)

Overall pass rate: 97 per cent

Amount who received A* to B grades: 50 per cent

Two out of the total of 94 year 13 students received A* grades.

- Heanor Gate

Overall pass rate: 99.1 per cent

Amount who received A or B grades: 37 per cent

- Friesland School

Overall pass rate: 98.62 per cent

Amount who received A* to C grades: 68.6 per cent

At least four students out of a total of 97 received A* grades.

- George Spencer Academy, Stapleford

Overall pass rate: 100 per cent

Amount who received A or A* grades: 30 per cent.

52 per cent achieved A*, A or B grade results.

One student received three A* grades.

- Wilsthorpe Community College, Long Eaton

Overall pass rate: 97.3 per cent

110 students, three received ungraded

At least four students received A* grades

- Long Eaton School

Overall pass rate: 94 per cent

Amount achieving A* to C: 51 per cent

- Trent College, Long Eaton

Overall pass rate: 98.9 per cent

12.7 per cent of all grades achieved were the top A* grade, with 36.4 per cent at A*-A.
