Crowds of people embarked on a journey back through time in Cotmanhay this week.

The Trip Down Memory Lane event, which took place on September 6, welcomed people of all ages to get on their best 1940s gear and live in a forgotten era for a day.

The Pavillion Playing Fields, Cotmanhay, saw traditional sports and games taking place including an egg and spoon race, skipping and sack races.

There were also live performances by local singers, including Johnny Victory and Julie Prince, who sang songs from the era.

A prize was awarded for the best 1940s/50s outfit worn and a ‘Beat the goalie’ competition was held on the football pitch.

The event was organised by Action4Cotmanhay, a small group of volunteers from Cotmanhay, made possible by funding from various grants as well as their own fundraising efforts.
