Abused rottweiler found tied to a tree
The RSPCA is appealing for information after a black and tan Rottweiler dog was found tied to a tree in Littleover, Derbyshire, at the weekend.
The young dog was found near St George's primary school, close to Blagreaves Lane on Sunday 12 October. Council workers discovered her at about 8.30pm and contacted the RSPCA.
A note, written on A4 lined paper, had been tucked into her collar and read: "My name is Tia, I need some tender love and care. Friendly. I need my vaccination."
Inspectors are hoping to trace Tia's owner as she also had a six inch gash at the base of her throat which vets estimated had been there for at least two days and had not been treated.
The dog has a docked tail and a brown leather collar with metal paw print shaped studs around it.
RSPCA inspector Dave McAdam said: "We don't know how long Tia had been tied to the tree or how she was injured – it may have been caused by a tether. I am sure someone must know where Tia comes from.
"If you think someone has had a Rottweiler until recently and it's disappeared, please let us know.
"Owners really must make sure that if they can no longer look after their pet then they should contact the RSPCA or another welfare organisation for help – dumping them is never an option."
Tia remains at the veterinary surgery where the cut on her neck is being treated. She will go into RSPCA care if no-one claims her.
Anyone who has information about where Tia came from should contact the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 1234 999.
