A DOG that was found with his eyeball hanging out of the socket and a serious stomach infection is making a good recovery at Babbington Kennels.

Alfred, the Shih Tzu, was rescued by the centre where he is now being looked after.

A vet has stitched the eye back in place but it not known if he will retain his sight.

He has had more than £500 worth of vet treatment and still needs another £400 worth.

Centre staff are hoping they will be able to find Alfred a home after he has finished his treatment.

Centre owner, Tony Sanderson said: “When he came in he was in a terrible way and looked awful.

“He’s had his stitches out now but we don’t expect his eye to stay and he’s already blind in one eye so he will be completely blind and he only has partial hearing.

“He is fine in all other respects and just wants to be around someone, as soon as he knows there’s someone there he just follows them around.”

If you could offer Alfred a home call Babbington Kennels on 0115 9306327.
