AN Ilkeston care home celebrated a special birthday this week as one of their residents turned 108.
Annie Keightley, who lives at Oliver House in Kirk Hallam celebrated with cake, cards and a visit from her family.
Annie, who has featured in the Advertiser before, has always said her secret to a long life is staying single and not having a man to look after.
She has no children but a large extended family who joined her to mark the special occasion.
Ms Keightley was born in a cottage on Heanor Road which stood where the Advertiser office is now.
After leaving school aged 13 she worked at the Wolsey factory in Kimberley for 60 years.
Annie moved to Oliver House in 2006.
