A TEAM of charitable West Hallam youngsters have had their most successful table top sale to date.

It is the third event which school friends James Taylor and Ryan Parkes, both 12, have organised to raise money for Ilkeston Stroke Club.

And this time they have raised a record £584 through plant stalls, sweet stalls, tombolas and more at West Hallam village hall on Saturday.

James said: “It went really, really well.”

Visitors could even pay £1 to throw wet sponges at James.

“I got completely soaked, but it was worth it,” he said.

The boys were helped out by James’s sister Amber, 9, and friend Niall O’Connor.
