Appeal after alleged assault in Ilkeston

Police are appealing for information after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Ilkeston.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday December 27 a woman was with her friends in the Charter Public House on South Street when she was allegedly assaulted by a man.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman was near the front of the pub when an altercation took place with a man.

He punched her in the face causing her to bang her head on a table as she fell to the floor and when she tried to get up he hit her again in the jaw.

The victim attended Nottingham Queens Medical Centre for facial injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Police would like to speak to the man who is described as white, in his 40s, approximately 6ft tall, of stocky build with a bald/shaved head and possibly missing some front teeth. He was wearing a bright yellow polo type top with horizontal stripes in a different colour.
