A widow and her family have presented more than £900 to Treetops Hospice after holding an art and painting materials auction.

Mary Webster decided to sell her husband Alan’s paintings and art materials to raise cash for the hospice in memory of Alan who died in June this year aged 82.

Mrs Webster said: “Alan was a keen artist, it was his hobby but he was very talented.

“Treetops nurses were there to help us in the last days of Alan’s life and they were wonderful.

“He painted many pictures and as you can imagine gathered quite a collection of materials over the years he was was painting soI thought an auction would be the best way to raise money in his memory.”

Some of Alan’s paintings fetched as much as £90 and Mrs Webster presented a cheque for £910 to the Risley based hospice this week.

Suzee Gent, community and events fundraiser at Treetops Hospice, said: “As a charity we rely heavily on the generosity of people such as Mrs Webster.

“We are so grateful to her for raising such a fantastic amount and would like to thank her for thinking of Treetops Hospice.”
