A COUNCILLOR, who only turned up to one meeting in six months, has defended her attendance record.
At a meeting on Thursday, former councillor Darren Adams-Shaw asked if Stanley and Stanley Common councillor Linda McGraw was still collecting her £2,000 allowances.
Leader Cllr Chris Corbett revealed that Cllr McGraw had attended a meeting on May 26 but did not attend another until November 16 – just ten days before she would have been disqualified and a by-election called.
But Cllr McGraw said after the meeting: “I became councillor in May 2011 and in this role I was furnished with three sets of full council meetings. These were subsequently changed. This was something out of my control.”
She added that she has organised surgeries with constituents since her election.
