AN ILKESTON student scooped a top award for her efforts in A level psychology.
Megan Purnell, 18, was awarded the psychology prize in recognition of her success at A level and her extended project on autism which was rewarded with maximum marks.
Megan, a former pupil at St John Houghton School who is now studying Psychology and Theology at Liverpool Hope University, said: “I was really pleased to be awarded the prize and it was lovely to come back to the Joseph Wright Centre to see staff and friends. I had a great time here.”
Megan was handed the honour at a celebration evening to mark the achievements of students who recently graduated from the Joseph Wright Centre at Derby College.
Faculty Head Kate Martin said at the celebration: “This has been a very successful year at the Joseph Wright Centre with a wonderful group of students. We had our largest ever cohort of more than 500 students receiving results this summer and were delighted with the results.”
