A charity clothing collection to raise money for Cancer Research UK was a mega success, raising more than £10,000.

The fundraiser, held at Ilkeston Market Place, was organised by Slimming World from members from Ilkeston and the surrounding areas, with the idea being to bag up old clothes that no longer fitted.

Group leader Jules Bullock, said: “We collected 328 bags which amounts £10,186 for Cancer Research UK, as each bag is worth £31.

“Everybody really took it on board and members of the public also bought bags up.”

Slimming World joined forced with Cancer Research UK for the event.

Jules added: “It’s amazing how it has been taken on by members who have lost weight and don’t need the clothes anymore.”
