CUSTOMERS and staff at an Ilkeston salon raised more than £400 for Babbington Kennels.

Every year, Pam Brown, of Pam’s Beauty Studio, asks clients to donate a tin of pet food or make a small donation instead of giving a Christmas card.

This year’s efforts raised £425 for Babbington Kennels in Awsworth.

A volunteer from the kennels and Pam’s Beauty Studio client, Carol Gascoigne, told staff that the rescue centre was struggling for bedding so they collected old blankets and towels as well.

Pam said: “We’d all like to say a huge thank you for all the donations we received.

“I’d like to remind everyone as well that the kennels are grateful to receive any old towels, blankets, rugs or sheets for bedding throughout the year.”

Babbington Kennels is the largest independently financed dog rescue centre in the UK and costs £500 a day to run.

They are currently fundraising to renovate some of the buildings at the Awsworth site.
