This month, Derbyshire’s largest charity for carers has launched its first ever county-wide fundraising campaign ‘Britain’s Best Breakfast in Derbyshire’ to raise money to help support unpaid carers, give them a break from their caring role and to encourage people to wake up to the issue of caring.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives us fuel and energy to help us get through the trials of the day. Many carers skip breakfast because they simply don’t have time to prepare or eat it.
Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA) are launching the campaign and asking carers, Cafe’s, shops, supermarkets, pub, clubs and restaurants to help them to help local carers.
Today, one in ten of the population is a carer. That’s nearly seven million people. We all know someone in a caring role. Even if you aren’t a carer yourself, it’s likely you know someone who needs the support of Derbyshire Carers.
The ‘Best Breakfast’ campaign encourages people to raise money for carers by hosting a breakfast event for friends and family. It’s an opportunity to host your own breakfast event and to help raise funds for all the unpaid carers in the county.
Whether it’s a bowl of cereal, a pastry or a fry up, DCA are asking you to host a breakfast to help raise funds to support the 118,000 unpaid carers in Derbyshire.
Simply visit DCA’s newly launched website www.derbyshirecarers.co.uk for great ideas, tips, information and downloadable media. Alternatively, call a member of the Admin Team at Ripley Head Office on 01773 743355.
Or if breakfast really is not your thing, then you can still support the campaign by texting DERB25 £3 and donating £3 (or any amount) to 70070.
