THE MAYORS of Erewash and Amber Valley pulled on their walking boots on Saturday and launched this year’s Autumn Footprints walking festival.
The event which runs for 16 days includes a programme of walks around some of Erewash and Amber Valley’s hidden gems and beauty spots.
Marion Farell is from Groundwork Derbyshire and is one of the festival co-ordinators.
She said: “The idea behind the festival is not only to get local people to appreciate the countryside on their doorstep but also to show visitors that you don’t have to go to the Peak District for beautiful countryside.”
For a list of all the walks go to www.gdd.org.uk or pick up a leaflet from the Shipley Country Park visitors’ centre.
