The family of 13 year-old Stapleford lad Josh Boothman, who tragically died after entering the Erewash Canal, are appealing for motorcyclists to accompany his funeral procession.

Luke’s body was found on September 24 during a search of the river.

Richard MacRae, Broxtowe borough councillor for Stapleford North, said: “Josh was absolutely mad about motorbikes and was always dropping into the local bike shops just so he could sit on one. His parents always knew where he would be.

“His older brother Luke is a new biker and Josh would constantly ask if he could help clean his bike.”

Now Luke is planning to ride to his brother’s funeral so their parents, Mark and Gwen, have requested a few bikers to escort Josh on his final journey.

If you would like to ride along with the procession the funeral takes place on October 21 at 4.15pm at Bramcote Crematorium.

The cortege sets out from Stapleford’s Horace Avenue at 3.45pm, assembling at Derby Road Sainsbury’s at 3.15pm.
