JUDGES in this year’s East Midlands in Bloom competition have visited Ilkeston and Long Eaton this week.
They were given guided tours of both towns to see the floral displays by Erewash Borough Council and town schools.
The tour included visits to Stanton Road Cemetery, Straw’s Bridge and Victoria Park in Ilkeston, and the Wilsthorpe Road allotments, library and West Park in Long Eaton.
They also visited Hallam Fields Junior School, whose pupils won a certificate in last year’s schools’ competition.
Cllr Mike Wallis, said: “Our silver medal success in the competition over the last two years has been outstanding and we hope for more success in 2011.”
Ilkeston and Long Eaton are going head-to-head in the Large Town category of the prestigious competition.
