Seven lovely ‘ladies’ will be walking around Ilkeston, Stapleford and Long Eaton town centres on Friday July 12, raising cash for a good cause.
The ‘Unfortunate Seven’ chaps in drag will be setting off from the Seven Oaks pub at 5.30pm to raise cash for Cancer Research UK ahead of a 12-hour festival at the Stanton-by-Dale pub later in the month.
Breastfest, now in its second year, will see local bands including Crazy Diamond, New Gold and Ilkeston Brass, perform alongside a beer festival from 12noon to 12midnight on Saturday July 20.
Local businesses have volunteered stalls and events throughout the day and there will even be a high zip wire to get the adrenaline going and a raffle with 30 top prizes.
Entry is £4 for person and there will be a minibus shuttle service available from 10pm. All proceeds go to Cancer Research UK.
Organiser Claire Powderly said she hopes to double last year’s total and raise £6,000.
“We are hoping that the local people from areas such as Ilkeston, Stapleford, Sandiacre, and Long Eaton will take the Breastfest festival to their hearts, support the event and help create a music festival that can carry on year after year,” she said.
Look out for the seven drag ladies on Friday evening as they are dropped off in each town centre in their ‘Pink Lady’ Cadillac.
