A Long Eaton schoolgirl starred in Shrek The Musical at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal.

Ellie Daley, 10, played both the lead roles of the young Princess Fiona and the young Shrek, complete with full green makeup and ears, for six performances each over the two-and-half weeks of the lauded touring production.

Ellie, who is in year six at The Elms Junior School, attends the Stagecoach theatre arts school in Derby and Nottingham’s TV Workshop and won the parts after successfully auditioning with over 60 other Stagecoach hopefuls. Four girls were offered the part, with two girls in two teams sharing the two roles.

Her proud mum, Diane said: “Ellie said to me the other day that if she could wind back time and do it all again, she would. She’s had the time of her life.

“Ellie has always loved singing but this is the first time she has sung on stage and that was her favourite thing about this production.”
