Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry has has pledged her support for HS2 following a report outlining benefits of the project was released last week.

A stop for the line will be in Toton for commuters and it is predicted that the project could boost the local economy by up to £2billion per year.

She said: “I am a firm supporter of HS2, especially given the East Midlands hub will be at Toton Sidings.

“I believe this will not only improve our transport links to London, Sheffield and Leeds, but will also be a real boost to growth bringing more jobs into Broxtowe.

“I am very much aware of the effect the proposed line will have on Strelley Village, Trowell and Nuthall. I continue to press the Secretary of State for proper compensation for people who will or may lose their home and more measures to reduce the adverse affect on areas.”
