A SANDIACRE student is going back to school as an apprentice.

Lewis Dodd, a former pupil at Friesland School in Sandiacre, has joined the estates team at Long Eaton’s Trent College and become the school’s first apprentice.

Lewis, 17, said: “This apprenticeship will give me the experience to achieve in something I really want to do.

“I had done a bit of work on construction sites before but joinery was always the thing I enjoyed the most and when I heard about this apprenticeship I couldn’t wait to apply.

“Through it I hope to gain more skills in joinery, as well other elements of construction.

“I’ve not been involved for long but I’ve already learned what it is like to work as part of a large team.”
