A mother and daughter team are hoping to turn heads in Ilkston after opening the doors to their new hair and beauty salon in the town centre.

Deb, Hollie and Daisy Stuart have brought their years of training and experience together to launch the business, Stuart’s Hair and Beauty on Bath Street.

Mum Debs, 48, is already a familiar face in the town having worked as a hair stylist at another salon in Ilkeston for more than 14 years.

Having helped out at weekends while they were growing up, daughters Hollie, 22, and Daisy, 21, were keen to follow the family trade.

After years of studying their chosen specialisms, Hollie is now a fully-qualified hairstylist herself whil Daisy is a beautician.

Now they say it’s a dream come true to be back together again and opening up their own salon.

Debs said: “I can’t think of two people I would rather work with. We’re a really close knit family anyway and we’re all just so excited to be opening our own salon.

“I’ve been in the industry for 33 years and I still absolutely love it but I was surprised when the girls chose to make a career of it. I thought those days helping me out as teenagers might have put them off. But they love it as much as I do.”

She added: “It wasn’t until Daisy started working that I thought this could be a fantastic family thing in years to come but I never said anything to the girls because I wanted them to find their own way.

“But they convinced me that this is what they want to do and now we’re all looking forward to being together and building a new business together—and I couldn’t be more proud.”

The salon, nextdoor to Wilko, has been completely renovated and features a hair studio, nail bar and private studio for spray tans, waxing and other treatments.

The team offer services including manicures, pedicures and facials, as well as products including Fake Bake, Calgel, Wella and Affinage, with Dermalogica due in stock soon.
