A Ilkeston cafe has achieved the highest score for its food hygiene rating for the second year in a row.
Billy Bunter’s on Furnace Road is run by couple Crystal Sheldon, 26, and Scott Stevenson, 31.
The Kirk Hallam pair, who are engaged and have two children, have run it for six years and were delighted to be given five out of five following their latest inspection by Erewash Borough Council.
Crystal said: “We bought the cafe six years ago. We both had jobs at the time. Scott was in a traffic accident - with the compensation we decided to buy this place.
“When we took it on it had been run in to the ground. We have built it up over the last six years.”
Crystal said they have become busier over the last year and puts the secret of their success down to great customer service and a good atmosphere.
“We keep good conversation with the customers,’ she said.
“We hope to keep building on our success, get more customers and keep the five star hygiene rating.”
Billy Bunter’s is open 7am until 2pm Monday to Friday and 7am until 12pm on Saturday.
The cafe serves breakfasts, cobs, and snacks such as jacket potatoes, cheese toasties and sandwiches.
