THE MANAGING director of an Ilkeston firm is celebrating after being named Business Woman of the Year at a regional awards night.

Lian Britchford runs Encompass Print Solutions, based on the Manners Industrial Estate.

She was voted Business Woman of the Year by the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce.

She said: “I’m absolutely delighted and feel very proud to have won this award, not just for myself, but for the business as well.

“The team we have here is excellent and I very much see this as an award for the whole business and not just for myself.”

Miss Britchford told the Advertiser, charity work and her role as a mentor as part of Every Woman Muse – a scheme encouraging young women into industry – played a part in her scooping the title.

She added: “I’ve given talks in schools and in prisons to try and encourage young girls and women into industry and pass on my own knowledge of being in business.”

It is the second major award Lian has won this year after she was named East Midlands Business Woman of the Year at the Women of Worth Awards.

She was handed the honour after taking the firm’s turnover from nothing to £5m in only four years.

Jean Mountain, Chair of the Chamber’s Enterprising Women group, said: “There are some very talented and hard-working businesswomen in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire who play a massive part in the success of their business but are often not recognised for their hard work and determination.

“These enterprising women make an important contribution to the local economy and their success stories will hopefully inspire many other women to pursue their business dreams.”
