WORK is well under way on a £300,000 project to provide space for new businesses on the edge of Ilkeston town centre.
Earlier this year Derbyshire County Council’s adult education service vacated the ground floor of Casteldine House in Heanor Road and moved to Cotmanhay.
This gave regenration agency Erewash Partnership the opportunity to increase the number of units it lets out there.
The new 2,000 sq ft-ground floor can be rented out as one unit or divided into six separate units for new and start-up firms, complete with a reception and meeting areas.
Partnership chief executive Ian Viles said: “This will boost the street scene as well as providing much-needed premises for start-up and new growing businesses at reasonable terms.”
Work is expected to be complete by the end of January and the partnership hopes new tenants will move in from February.
