Campaign success

The NUMBER of motorcyclists killed on Derbyshire roads fell by 40 per cent during a campaign by the road safety partnership.

Chris Jackson, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Between April and September last year, 69 motorcyclists were killed or badly hurt in Derbyshire – that’s 46 fewer than during the same period in 2009. This is good news – but it won’t make us complacent.”

During the five month campaign, newspaper and radio adverts aimed at motorcyclists ran.
