Drivers can ‘gear’ up to put a shine on their vehicles when the mayor of Erewash hosts a charity car wash at Ilkeston Fire Station to raise money for his chosen charities.

The Mayor, Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal, will be joined by firefighters for the event on Saturday between 10am and 3pm at the Derby Road fire station.

All proceeds from the day will go to the Ilkeston and Long Eaton branches of the Royal British Legion and local Air, Army and Sea Cadet units – and the Firefighters charity.

Cadet volunteers will be helping out on the day.

Councillor Singh Athwal, said: “I hope as many residents as possible will support us by making a charity donation to have their cars washed. I would like to give my thanks to the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service for backing us.”
