Care home: ‘our workers will be paid’

A CARE home firm has denied that its workers, including those at an Ilkeston care home, will receive no pay for a month, despite claims by a union last week.

GMB said staff at Four Seasons care homes, including Cedars and Larches in Nottingham Road, would not be paid for four weeks while it sorted out its £780m debt.

But a spokesman from Four Seasons, which took on some Southern Cross homes last year, said GMB had been on a ‘campaign of misinformation’ against the firm.

“We are changing pay dates for some employees as we move to unify our pay arrangements as part of the integration of 140 former Southern Cross homes,” she said.

“It is simply so everyone gets paid at the same time on a four weekly basis.”

Staff will receive pay a few days earlier or later in the month than they usually would, but no one would go without pay.
